Tallest NBA Players 2019

When you’re a tall person, one of the very first questions you get asked is whether or not you play basketball. While it takes a lot more than just being tall to play in professional basketball, I can see the correlation. Especially as you look at the tallest NBA players 2019 season.

Oddly and ironically, many articles have been written about the height of NBA players. Just recently, I saw a few interviews about NBA players who have lied about their height. And get this: most of the players are lying about being shorter rather than taller.

What’s that all about? Actually, their reasons for lying is somewhat justifiable. Most of those reasons were to prevent being isolated to just one position based on their height. Which I totally get.

On a different note, let’s take a look inside the NBA and see the Tallest NBA Players In 2019. I’ll be including a joke or two about each team. So if you’re a little sensitive about your team, just take it all with a grain of salt. Or if you need a good joke to tell at your favorite sports bar, I gotcha covered.

2019’s Tallest Basketball Players For Each Team

First up, in alphabetical order, is the Atlanta Hawk’s Center Dewayne Dedmon, listed at 7’0″ on wikipedia. Dedmon, as of 2019, averages 10 points a game with 7 rebounds. Ok. What do you call 12 millionaires sitting in a living room watching the NBA Finals? Answer. The Atlanta Hawks. Unfortunately, Dedmon is on the couch tuned in as well, sitting on that multi-million dollar contract.

Next up, are the Bostin Celtics. Aron Baynes and Al Horford are both listed at 6’10”, the tallest players on the Boston squad. Baynes’ career average thus far is 5 points and 4 rebounds per game. Horford’s numbers were slightly better at 14 points per game, and 8 rebounds. Please forgive me, but what does a Possum and the Boston Celtics have in common? Answer. Both play dead at home and get killed on the road!.

The Brooklyn Nets’ Timofey Mozgov is listed at 7’1′ with 6 points and 4 rebounds as a career total. As of March 4, 2019, the Brooklyn Nets are currently in sixth place of the Eastern Conference after winning 22 of 33 games going into the All-Star break. What do you call a Brooklyn Nets player with a conference championship ring? Answer. A thief!

Chicago Bulls:

  • Lauri Markkanen- 7’0″
  • Robin Lopez – 7’0″

Markkanen and Lopez have eight years separating the time that they have been in the league. Markkanen has an average of 16 points and 8 rebounds in his career, and Lopez 8 points with 5 rebounds per game. Given the drama currently surfacing in the news; What’s the difference between a Bull’s fan and an infant? Answer. The infant will stop whining after awhile.

Cleveland Cavaliers

  • Ante Zizic – 6’11”
  • Channing Frye – 6’11”

Power forward/Center, Frye has career totals of 8 points and 4 rebounds per game. Zizic has averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds a game. The Cavaliers are experiencing some struggles this season, currently at the fourteenth position in the Eastern Conference with 16 wins and 48 losses. The vote is in. The Cleveland Cavaliers head coach position has less job security than a cabinet post in the Trump Administration.

For the sake of not sounding so redundant, I’ll just do a quick running list of the Tallest NBA Players In 2019 while you recover from my jokes:

Tallest Dallas Mavericks Players

Salah Mejri – 7’2″ Starting his basketball career at the tender age of 20 in the TBL (Tunisian Basketball League), then getting picked up by Dallas Mavericks in 2015, Salah became the first ever Tunisian player in the NBA.

Denver Nuggets Tall Players

Mason Plumlee – 6’11”. Mason is a tall NBA player currently playing in the 2019 roster with the Denver Nuggets. He started his professional career back in 2013 with the Brooklyn Nets. Just 4 years after his freshman year with the Duke Blue Devils  in which he spend the first 6 games on the sidelines with a broken wrist.

The Tallest NBA Player 2019

Boban Marjanovic – 7’3″. Standing an incredible 7’3″ tall, Boban is a proud Serbian basketball player who’s made his name with the Detroit Pistons, Spurs, La Clippers and in 2019 with the Philadelphia 76ers due to an early February trade.

Inches above the rest, Boban Marjanovic is the tallest NBA player in 2019 on this list. While this Serbian Giant can certainly take the tallest basketball player title, unfortunately his size 20 feet means he can’t get on a bike at soul cycle. Which makes him sad as you can see in the video below.

Golden State Warriors
JaVale McGee – 7’0″
Damian Jones – 7’0″

Houston Rockets
Zhou Qi – 7’1″

Indiana Pacers
Domantas Sabonis – 6’11”

Los Angeles Clippers
DeAndre Jordan – 6’11”

Los Angeles Lakers

Ivica Zubac – 7’1″

Memphis Grizzlies

Marc Gasol – 7’1″

Miami Heat

Hassan Whiteside – 7’0″
Kelly Olynyk – 7″0″

Thon Leaves Milwaukee Bucks For Greater Heights

Thon Maker – 7’1″. Born in Sudan and raised in Australia from the age of 5, Thon has filled his shoes to an impressive 7’1″ height. With a solid few years at the Milwaukee Bucks, Thon Maker is set to make his mark at the Detroit Pistons.

Thon Maker while in middle school stood 7 foot tall as you can see in this video from his younger days.
